Fantasy Football – Week 6 Preview

With the unexpected exit from the Survival League last week, we’re down to 2 leagues from here on out this season. During the draft I predicted the Konmen would usher out the cast of The Replacements to make up the starting roster during week 6. Two bench players were added to the starting lineup (P. Burress and C. Benson). In addition, I made a free agent pickup of D. Nelson (WR), dropping C. Ochocinco in the process. D. Nelson was quickly added to the starting lineup. I’m hoping the backups can pick up some of the slack to bring the Konmen to another win. After an undefeated season predicting the winner of each game, Yahoo! got it wrong last week, let’s hope they’re wrong again this week as they’re predicting another loss.

Only one upset pick this week in Football Pick’em, the Redskings over the Eagles. Not sure if this is a pick based on expectation or hope… or both. The Redskins are home, I’m hoping that gets them over the hump putting the Eagles and all the Philly fans in a frenzy.

Fantasy Football – Week 5 Results

Yahoo! managed to get it wrong this week as the Konmen won handily against Crack Rocks, a perennial playoff team in this fantasy league. In a matter of two weeks I’ve gone from a troubled offensive team to an offensive juggernaut. After scoring the 2nd most points last week I scored the most points this week. The Konmen are now in 4th place with a 3-2 record and have the 3rd most points scored. For future reference, the top 6 teams make the playoffs.

Konman finished in 23rd place this week in Football Pick’em, not very impressive, but still better in the rankings than last week. Somehow, I moved up 2 spots in the overall rankings to 5th place, now 15 points behind the league leader.

And now for the bad news. I was eliminated from Survival Football this past week. However, the news is even more stunning than that. There were 24 teams remaining going into this past weekend of football. Of those 24 teams, 20 picked the Giants, 2 picked the Colts, 1 picked the Texans, and 1 picked the Patriots. The Patriots were the only team to come out alive, effectively ending the season for not only my team, but all others except the team that picked the Patriots, the Forney Gators.

Fantasy Football – Week 5 Preview

I’m getting a late start with the preview this week. My opponent didn’t update his roster to replace a bye week player at first, so I held off for a few days. Going with Yahoo! and their penchant for picking the winner each week, another loss is in the cards for the Konmen. The projections also recommend I replace Chris Johnson with Ryan Matthews, but I decided to go against the grain on this one.

Going with the NY Giants over the Seahawks this week in Survival Football. It was either the Giants or the Patriots over the Jets, and I can’t pick against the Jets. Well, at least not in Survival Football. I did pick against the Jets in Football Pick’em, so that game isn’t 1 of the 3 upsets I picked this week.

Fantasy Football – Week 4 Results

No research went into making this next statement, but I’m guessing it’s not much of an exaggeration. This was one of the toughest losses in Konmen history. Leading by over 40 points heading into the Sunday night game things were looking good. I had one player still yet to play, Dustin Keller (TE). ItsShowtime had 4 players still yet to play, including two during the Jets vs. Ravens game, Anquan Boldin (WR) and Baltimore (DEF). ItsShowtime also had two players playing on Monday night, which is when I expected the game to get interesting. Well, not so much. The Jets lost the game to Baltimore, largely due to 3 interception/fumble returns for touchdowns. Thirty-two fantasy points later for the Baltimore defense, along with another 2.8 for Boldin, I only had a 4 point lead going into Monday. Barring any early 1st quarter injuries to his two players, LeGarrette Blount (RB) and Reggie Wayne (WR), this was a sure loss. And so it was. The Konmen scored the second most points in the league this week, finally having that breakout week I was looking for, only to lose to the one team in the league to score more points. The Konmen and Jets are now 2-2. Ouch.

My Survival Football team lived to see another week with New Orleans winning. The two other games I thought about picking, Chicago and Tampa Bay, also turned into wins.

The Konmen had a rough turnout for Football Pick’em, finishing with 102 points in a tie for 30th place. Nothing to brag home about. I now stand in 7th place, losing ground on the leader board, now 18 points behind.

Fantasy Football – Week 4 Preview

If recent history proves true, the Konmen will lose this week as Yahoo! is predicting a 2 point loss. Yahoo! has surprisingly picked the winner in all 3 games so far. However, I think this week is going to buck the trend. The RB’s have some favorable match ups this week which I think is going to result in some greater the predicted point totals.

I picked the Saints in the Survival Football league this week. It was a tough choice as I had ideas of picking the Bears over the Panthers or the Bucs over the Colts. All are possible winners, let’s just hope I picked the right one in the event there are a few upsets this week.

I decided to go with 3 upset picks in Football Pick’em this week, one of them being the Jets. I don’t like picking against the Jets, so I gave them the lowest number of confidence points, just in case.

Fantasy Football – Week 3 Results

If you thought the end of last nights game was exciting, imagine me watching the last minute of the game. With just under 1 minute to go, the Konmen had just under a 2 point lead. If Tim Hightower gets a rush or reception for over 18 yards, the Konmen lose. Redskins QB Rex Grossman drops back, surveys the field, doesn’t see an open receiver, decides to run out of the pocket, and… fumbles the ball! The fumble is recovered by the Cowboys, basically ending the game. Konmen Win!

I finished with 99 points in the Football Pick’em league, good for 18th place, 12 points behind the weekly leader. Konman is holding steady in 5th place out of 63 teams, but lost 3 points to the leader, now 6 points behind the overall leader.

Survival Football turned into a nail biter, but I lived to see another week nonetheless. On to week 4!

Fantasy Football – Week 3 Preview

The picks are in for week 3 of the football season. So far this season Yahoo! has been accurate in predicting who will score the most points in Fantasy Football, at least when the Konmen are concerned. If things hold true the Konmen will pull of another win this week. A couple of roster moves were made prior to setting the lineup, both off waivers yesterday. Kyle Orton (QB), a 14th round draft pick, was replaced with Kevin Kolb (QB). Also, Sidney Rice (WR), a 11th round draft pick, was replaced with Dustin Keller (TE). Keller also replaced Owen Daniels in the starting lineup. There might be another change to the starting lineup, depending on how I feel about having two Jets, a TE and WR, in the starting lineup. That will be a (close to) gametime decision.

The San Diego Chargers, a 14 point favorite, were picked in Survival Football. I’m thinking this was an easy pick, but sometimes you never know with San Diego, they’re a historically slow team during the early parts of the season.

A single upset pick this week in Fooball Pick’em is Miami over Cleveland. Not a huge upset, but a prediction nonetheless.

Fantasy Football – Week 2 Results

Not a good week for the Konmen in the Fantasy Football league. It’s not just the fact that I lost for the first time this year. It wasn’t a bad loss either. What has me concerned is the amount of points the Konmen have put up during the first 2 weeks of the season. Of the 10 teams in the league, I’ve scored the 9th most points and currently stand in 7th place. None of the players have had a breakout game so far, not even Chris Johnson, my first round pick (7th overall). It’s still early, so I’m not throwing up any white flags, but there’s cause for concern.

I finished with 117 points in the Football Pick’em league, good for 10th place, 9 points behind the weekly leader. Konman is holding steady in 5th place out of 63 teams, 3 points behind the overall leader.

And finally, I lived to see another week in the Survival Football league. On to week 3!

Fantasy Football – Week 2 Preview

Week 2 of the football season is upon us. According to Yahoo! we’re expecting another tight Fantasy Football game this week against the Bojangles. I’m going with the Green Bay Packers in Survival Football. Or am I just picking against the Panthers again? In the Pick’em league I’m going with 2 upsets, Arizona over Washington and Tampa over Minnesota. Not sure what I’m thinking picking two upsets with the away team winning. Oh well, you never know. I’m looking forward to being able to watch a few games this week on the big screen at home as opposed to the small TV in the Keystone condo.

Fantasy Football – Week 1 Results

The Konmen won a nail-biter in the Fantasy Football league during Week 1. The win was largely due to a kick/punt return specialist, Ted Ginn Jr., who returned a kick-off and punt towards the end of the 4th quarter, netting me 12 additional points for the team defense. Those points pushed the Konmen over the edge. However, of the 10 teams in the league, I scored the least amount of the teams that won and less than two of the losing teams. Players will have to put up some better numbers to keep up, especially Matt Ryan. The 98 points in Football Pick’em placed me in a tie for 8th place out of 63 teams, which was out of the money. And Arizona netted me another week in the Survival League.
