Merry Christmas, everyone! Looks like there are a lot of goodies under the tree this year.

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain.
Welcome to my Christmas themed blog, which will be up for the next week or so before I switch over to a new theme for the new year. I had to maneuver things around and make things a bit simpler since this theme doesn’t support all the capabilities of the most recent version of WordPress.
The idea of Christmas loses a bit for me living in Southern California. The weather is usually mild to warm with sunny skies during the winter, which is a far cry from the thoughts of a chill in the air, snow falling, and cozying up next to a wood burning fireplace. For a change though, this year in SoCal we have rain, rain, and more rain. The Weather Channel tells me it’s going to rain through Thursday. With the rain falling pretty hard, and knowing the rain wasn’t going to let up, my brother and I broke down and went shopping for a Christmas tree. This brought us to Home Depot. I’ve always had trouble finding a good Christmas tree at Home Depot as I usually get there too late and all the good ones are taken. This usually results in having to go to a nursery to get a tree at a higher price. This year though, with the rain coming down and my recent bout with a cold, there was no way I was spending more time in the rain unless I had too. Luckily Home Depot had a large supply of trees for us to pick from. And it was pretty funny what people used to cover their heads from the rain. This one guy used the top of a garbage bin to protect himself from the rain. As for me, I had nothing but a bald head for the rain to bounce off of, which I’m sure wasn’t the best idea coming off of a nasty cold, but oh well. The tree is now in the garage drying off and will probably be up in the living room by tomorrow night… or Tuesday. We have to eventually get it ready for Christmas, don’t we?! I’m sure my mom will have something to do with getting the tree and house ready, seeing as she’s flying in tomorrow night. I’ll upload a few pictures of the tree and house when their done. For those of you in the business world, enjoy the short work week!
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Blue
Nope, that’s not a reference to my attitude for the day, although it is supposed to rain most of the day. Christmas Blue is the name of the WordPress theme I’m currently using and will keep up until just after the new year. A little note to any WordPress blog hosts that have decided to use this theme as is. The theme will negate your blog stats. My stats have showed zero hits on the site for the past 3 days, which coincidentally is when I started using the Christmas Blue theme. After doing a little research, I found that it was a problem with the footer.php file. The easiest solution is to copy over the footer.php file from the default WordPress theme and use that going forward. This will remove the “stop snowing” and “change wind direction” options from the footer. This will also remove any reference to the people that created the theme. Oh well.
Anyway, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I should probably attempt to get out of bed now.
Update (12/28/2008): After further review, changes were made to get the best of both worlds. The footer.php file now includes all the references and abilities that came with the Christmas Blue theme, and the blog stats function now works.
And a Happy Winter Solstice to all!
Most people look forward to the end of December for reasons that baffle me. There’s this whole thing about Christmas and gift giving. Then there’s New Year’s, when people make resolutions to change their lives in some form or fashion. Me, I celebrate December 21, 2008 @ 4:04 AM Pacific, also known as the Winter Solstice. This is the when days start getting longer rather than shorter, when I can start looking forward to getting up to the shining sun and driving home when it’s still shining, and only one more season before spring comes knocking on my door. So, to everyone, I’d like to wish you a Happy Winter Solstice 2008!
White Christmas!
I started putting this post together a few days ago, but it seems to have a little more meaning considering we woke up to some snow this morning. The links below will take you to a couple of audio files I’ve had on my hard drive for a few years. I though it would be fun to add it to the site today.
Heat Miser vs. Snow Miser
Merry Christmas!
