This was a week of the good, the bad and they ugly. We’ll start with the good. The Konmen annihilated the Cincinnati Stingers in Fantasy Football by almost 30 points. Monday night turned into the turning point with Matt Ryan and Willis McGahee tallying over 48 points to put the game away. Unrelated to this Fantasy Football league, I replaced Matt Ryan with Peyton Manning late in the week in my other league, thinking Manning would put up more points against the Atlanta defense then Ryan would against Denver. That turned into a big mistake and my first loss of the season. However, I’m not 2-0 in this league, having scored the most points through the first two weeks. Things are looking good so far. I even did a little post game trash talk with Winning is My Forte after they were again crushed by their opponent. I’m thinking this will be a weekly occurrence until they finally win a game.
Football Pick ‘em turned out to be part of the bad category, having scored only 80 points this week, 17 less points than last week. This might be one of the worst starts in Konmen history, but easily worse than last year, at which point I had 215 points after two weeks, compared to only 167 through two weeks this year. Things are not looking good as the Konmen are now 36 points behind the overall leader. Things will have to change quickly or the season might get away from me, but I’m going to stick with the tried and true pick strategy for at least another week.
And now for the ugly news. The Konmen were eliminated from Survival Football. This fantasy football league has been the toughest one through the years, with 2009 being my best year. Who would have thought the New England Patriots would lose a game in the final seconds due to a missed field goal, Buffalo Bills stye, wide left. It was a somewhat bitter-sweat feeling, as I was happy to see an arch rival of the Jets lose, but I didn’t want to be eliminated this early in the season. Oh well, there’s always next year. Here’s a breakdown of elimination weeks from the past 4 years.
> 2012 – Week 2
> 2011 – Week 5
> 2010 – Week 1
> 2009 – Week 11
