Found this cool site a few months back and have been filling in the cities, states, and countries I’ve visited when time permits. However, I’m having a little trouble determining what qualifies as having been to a specific city/state. And no one seems to have a clean opinion on the subject. This topic came to the forefront again yesterday when the Where I’ve Been blog posting a blog/poll asking When Does “Blue” Become “Red?” On Your Map?. Or, in other words, when does “I’ve been there” become “I’ve lived there.” As you can see below, I’ve been to a good number of states, 17 of them, plus the District of Columbia, living in 6 of those states. However, there are a few where some people might say I’ve already been. I went to Michigan when I was very young, don’t really remember having been there. Does that count? While driving cross country from New York to Denver, I took Interstate 80 through Ohio, Illinois, and Iowa, probably stopping in each state for gas or to stretch at one point during the trip. Should those states be added? I’ve also driven through Utah a few times, stopping in Cedar City and St. George for a night as a stop between Denver and LA. I didn’t really do much in each of those cities other than crash and get some food. I went to Seattle a few years back on a job interview. It was a day trip that included flying to Seattle, meeting the employer for an interview, having lunch, then heading back to LA. Should I count those states as having been there? So far I’ve included Utah and Washington as states I’ve been to, but not the states I’ve strictly driven through. But I don’t know, what do you think?

Regardless of the cities you’ve been to, I’d day that you have lived in the beautiful state of confusion for your whole life!
Your point?
