Lost in the shuffle of taking all those pics at Doral and the Pro Bowl is my disappointment with the Kodak ZI8. As a handheld HD video camera, it does what I ask. As you can see in the video below, it’s pretty clean and easy to watch… and definitely easy to carry around. The video is from the NFL Tailgate before the Pro Bowl. The band is called The Flutie Brothers and, if you look at the person playing the drums, you might notice someone by the name of Doug Flutie.

My disappointment with the Zi8 is the pictures. Only about 1/3 of the pics I took were clean enough to keep and upload. Part of it is the fact that there’s no flash, so night pics aren’t going to be clean. Then, when you press the button on the back to take a pic, it’s shakes, causing some blurred pics. I refuse to blame my own shaky hands for the blurry pictures . So, on rare occasions I’ll be able to take just the Zi8 with me, but will mostly likely be forced to make a decision when heading out if I wan to take my point and shoot camera, the video camera, or both.
