Greetings from Louisville, Kentucky. I figured it’s been a week since my trip to NY, might be time for a quick post with details from the trip. Last weekend, from September 26-29, I went to NY / Long Island for a wedding, to hang out with the parents, and see old friends, that includes both long time and age old friends.
You know who you are. Most of all, the time in NY was spent getting my fill of rain. It rained pretty much all day Sunday (wedding day) and parts of Saturday and Monday nights.
The wedding was great, although weird to see my little cousin getting married at the ripe old age of 26. Something that never gets old about Greek weddings, pretty much everyone has fun and dances to the classic Greek music, old and young. Very different from other weddings (read: American) where some of the younger kids dance, but most of the older attendees just watch. By the time the night was over I got to catch up with family and friends I haven’t seen in a long time, which was nice. Somehow I’ll have to figure out a way not to let that amount of time go by before seeing them again. That’ll be tough though.
On Saturday I spent some time with Mary. She comments on the blog every so often. We got together at the Kyclades Greek restaurant in Queens, which happens to be one of her favorite places to eat… and she’s Irish! From there she ganged up with my mom to give me lots of grief for not joining her in Greece earlier this month. All in good fun though.
Monday was spent relaxing until later in the day where I met up with Joker and me, both commenters here on the blog and friends from my FDC days. Of all places, Joker picked Buffalo Wile Wings to meet up at, the same bar I caught up with friends out in Denver last month. One thing that struck me from the night is the starting time for Monday night football on the east coast. It took me back to times when MNF meant nothing to me unless the Jets were playing. Living on the west coast now I get to watch the whole game and still have time to do a couple of things before finishing up the night. Sucks to be an east coaster in that respect. Then again, I’ll be in Louisville next Monday when the Jets take on the Dolphins, probably gonna be a long night… for the Dolphins!
