Yesterday morning, after a late Saturday night at the bar watching USA basketball win gold, I forced myself to get up after minimal sleep for a live fantasy football draft. In 2006 I finish 12th (last) with a 2-12 record in this league and now I’m looking for a little redemption. Maybe my team nickname will be The Redeem Team… ok, maybe not.
Honestly, I should be ranked as the preseason #1 team following the draft. The starting player configuration is QB, WR (3), RB (2), TE, WR/RB, K, DEF. With the extra WR/RB position, I decided to draft RB’s during the first 3 rounds and picked up 2 more starters later in the draft, so I think that’s going to be the teams strong suit. But I wasn’t as diligent about picking up a QB, causing me to find 3rd tier starters in John Kitna and Vince Young. With the 16th round pick of the draft I selected Dustin Keller, who I’m hoping at TE, turns into a Marques Colston type player with Favre throwing to him.

I gotta agree with you K. You certainly would be the Preseason #1…….if you were in a one team league.
Honestly – I can see that you took Joseph Addai with your first pick, but what happened for your next picks? Were you in the bathroom? Did they skip you? Where are the heavy hitters??
I will give you a little leeway if this is still a 12 person league. I assume you took Addai around 5th, which would mean your second pick would have been around 20th, but come on – have I taught you nothing?
At least you only have one kicker..but please tell me you drafted him late.
By the way – your copy of the “2008 MFL Media Guide” should be on its way this week.

This is a 12 person league. I’ve added the round and overall pick number for each player. And I’ve also added jpegs for the first 9 and last 7 rounds.
Looking at the picks, I could have probably waited a few more rounds to pick a kicker, but there seemed to be a big drop off between Bironas and the next tier of kickers.
One thing that seemed to get in the way as the draft went on was making sure I didn’t have multiple players at the same position with the same bye week. That usually makes it tough during the season to pick up multiple players at the same position for 1 week.
K, what detailed analysis. Yeah, I think you must have been drunk still at the draft. Since this is a free league who really cares. It’s all in fun. Now, team Monkey Butt Commish, get out there and pound the rest of the teams into submission. Go Monkeeeeeey Buuuutttts!
I’m not sure I can take trash talking from a team with the name Monkey Butts. The bad news is my 9th round pick, Rudi Johnson, was released by the Bungals. Since he was already scheduled to be a backup on the Konmen, I’m going to hold onto him just in case he gets picked up by a team that winds up starting him.
